The PVAEC State of Maine–approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course is designed to prepare students for a rewarding and meaningful career in healthcare. CNAs play an essential role in patient care, offering hands-on support and compassion in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care settings.
Our comprehensive program includes:
Classroom instruction focused on core healthcare knowledge, safety, communication, and ethics.
Skills labs that provide guided, hands-on practice in a supportive learning environment.
Clinical experience in a local healthcare facility where students apply their training under professional supervision.
Enrollment is limited to 10 students to ensure personalized instruction and individualized support throughout the program.
Admission requirements:
Successful completion of a criminal background check
Reading comprehension assessment to ensure readiness for course materials and patient care documentation

The State of Maine CNA certification exam
Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the State of Maine CNA exam and, upon passing, will be qualified for employment as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a variety of healthcare settings.

Learn essential skills for blood collection and lab procedures through classroom instruction and hands-on training. Gain proficiency in venipuncture, anatomy, safety protocols, patient care, and equipment handling.
This course prepares students for careers in hospitals, clinics, blood donation centers, and laboratories, and readies them for the NHA National Certification Exam.

Medication Administration for CNAs
A standardized 120-hour course approved by the Maine State Board of Nursing, designed to prepare experienced CNAs to safely administer non-injectable medications under the supervision of a licensed RN. The course is designed to teach experienced CNAs how to administer non-injectable medications to patients who are 14 years of ago and older under the direct supervision of a licensed registered nurse in long term care facilities and state mental health facilities.
Requirements:
• Must be a currently licensed CNA having worked at least 1200 hours as a CNA
• Two letters of recommendation from RNs
• Qualifying reading score on placement testing

Prepare for a career in the healthcare field with our Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program. This course provides training in both clinical and administrative skills needed to work in medical offices, clinics, and healthcare facilities.
Students will learn:
• Medical terminology and anatomy
• Clinical skills such as vital signs, injections, and EKGs
• Phlebotomy and specimen collection
• Patient scheduling, records, and medical office procedures
• Professional communication and patient care
• Preparation for the national CCMA certification exam
By the end of the program, students will be prepared for entry level employment as a Clinical Medical Assistant and ready to sit for the national certification exam.
